The competition in the rarefied atmosphere of the exotic supercar is as hot as ever. Every top manufacturer has some fire-breathing monster on sale that claims to be the fastest, quickest and generally best thing on the planet.
Yet such is the march of progress that supercars of only a few years ago have now been eclipsed in the performance stakes by comparatively normal family saloons.
We are going to pick on Ferrari today as we look at some four-door cars that are faster than a selection of recent and not so recent supercars, but the same comparison could be made with any Lamborghini, Porsche or Corvette.
While we won’t focus too much on top speed as blistering acceleration off the line has always been more fun and far more relevant, we also won’t cop out and choose some obscure 1950s Ferrari as our benchmark.
No, instead we have picked a selection of properly quick Ferraris from various decades and looked at what modern day machines can match them down a drag strip while still being able to seat four in comfort.
